About the role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer with deep expertise in battery testing, testing and result analysis automation, modeling, and algorithm validation to join our Storage Innovation team. This role is critical to advancing Enphase’s energy storage products, including our IQ Battery line, by improving performance, reliability, and lifecycle through data-driven insights and innovative engineering.
What you will do
  • Lead the design of battery testing plans across cell, pack, and module system levels, which includes battery incoming inspection, qualification, and design/algorithm validation.
  • Practice Design of Experiments (DOE) to make the testing plans comprehensive and efficient.
  • Own the execution of the testing while ensuring accurate and efficient use of testing equipment and protocols.
  • Build automated systems and scripts for battery testing, monitoring, and data acquisition.
  • Develop tools for real-time diagnostics and post-test analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar platforms.
  • Design and implement new algorithms to improve battery performance-- SoC, SoH, EIS interpretation, and life extension strategies, etc.
  • Support BMS development via testing setup development and testing support.
  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, and product teams to align battery performance with system-level goals, convert them to battery testing goals and algorithm goals.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks of the team and proactively propose solutions.
  • Collaborate proactively with other team members and foster a collaborative, innovative team culture.
Who you are and What you bring
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in battery R&D, preferably in lithium-ion systems.
  • Strong background in battery testing, battery testing automation, data analysis, and algorithm development.
  • 5+ years of experience of operating battery testing devices such as cell and module cyclers, power supply, BMU, data acquisition system, etc.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • 5+ years of experience of battery testing plan making and testing setup design.
  • Proficiency in integrating testing devices (i.e., cyclers, chambers, BMU, DAQ) and automate the testing and result analysis.
  • Experience with BMS integration and energy storage systems.
  • Excellent communication and project leadership skills.
  • Self-driven, team-oriented, and capable of identifying and solving complex technical challenges.
  • This is not a remote position. The employee is expected to be in the office for 5 full workdays a week. 
Preferred Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in new algorithms development (SoC, SoH, life extension, etc.)
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation of algorithms.
  • Familiarity with Enphase’s product ecosystem or similar distributed energy systems.
  • Experience with machine learning applied to battery diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety protocols for energy storage systems.
The base pay range for this position is $90,000 to $135,000 per year. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
